Leadership and Advocacy Program

Our Mission

At RuWERA CBO, we believe that empowering women and girls to take on leadership roles is key to transforming communities. Our Leadership and Advocacy program focuses on equipping women with the skills, confidence, and support to step into decision-making positions, lead change initiatives, and advocate for policies that promote gender equality and social justice.

Key Initiatives

Leadership Training

Providing women and girls with leadership skills, public speaking training, and conflict resolution strategies.

Advocacy for Gender Equality

Advocating for policies that promote women's rights, gender equity, and women's participation in leadership positions.

Mentorship for Future Leaders

Pairing young women with experienced female leaders who offer guidance and career development advice.

Women's Political Participation

Supporting and empowering women to run for local government positions and engage in political processes.

Community Dialogues and Public Awareness

Organizing community dialogues and campaigns to address gender discrimination and promote female leadership.

Key Data & Justification

Global Representation

Globally, women represent only 25% of parliamentary seats, according to UN Women, demonstrating the need for increased female representation in political leadership roles.

Barriers in Kenya

In Kenya, despite legal frameworks promoting gender equality, women still face significant barriers to leadership due to cultural norms, limited access to resources, and gender-based violence.

Impact of Women's Leadership

Research shows that increasing women's participation in leadership improves decision-making processes, enhances community resilience, and promotes more inclusive and effective governance.
